We just returned home from four days spent with my family. All of my family, since everyone now lives in Florida. It was fabulous. Yes, I said fabulous. We talked, ate everything from turkey to pizza, hung out on the lawn, played cornhole, saw friends, saw movies, laughed, and took lots of pictures. My nieces played together and fought together (toys can be hard to share when you’re pint-sized), and grandma and grandpa took the grandkids on a wagon ride (a huge hit).
Ande and I talked about how much we loved the chaos of the kids running around- yelling, chasing, laughing- playing outside with each other and with the adults. There was also an unspoken rule of everyone taking care of everyone else’s kid(s), which was beautiful. It was fun to love on our nieces, whom we don’t get to see enough. It was just wonderful.
I am so thankful for my family: for whom my family has grown to include and grown to be. Not a single person is perfect, and everyone is aware of that fact. We encourage each other, but disappoint each other, too. We’re not a perfect family. There isn’t one. But we do love each other, and I really, truly enjoy spending time together, all of us. God has been very good to us to give us each other.
